A full-size kalimba thumb piano that plays like the real one: pluck a tine near its tip for a bright, strong note, slide across the tines for a glissando and cover the sound hole for that soft kalimba wah. Learn songs from number tabs, tune your own kalimba with the microphone, or just let it play you to sleep. Play it like a real kalimba The kalimba fills the whole screen in landscape, with room for both thumbs. • Pluck near the tip for a louder note, nearer the bridge for a gentler one • Slide a thumb across the tines for a glissando • Rest a thumb on a ringing tine to damp it • Cover the sound hole to make it wah Play chords with as many fingers as you like. 16 tunings, in any key The 17-key kalimba in C major is the default, the tuning most kalimbas ship with. Switch to 8, 10 or 11 keys (the Classic tuning of the original app) or to a 21-key kalimba, or explore minor, dorian, pentatonic, akebono, hijaz, kurd and blues tunings. Pro adds a two-row 34-key chromatic kalimba and lets you make your own custom tunings, tine by tine. Move any tuning to any key, and switch to A=432 if you prefer it. 7 kalimba sounds, 7 finishes Seven sampled kalimbas: steel, hollow box, classic, crystal, karimba with buzzers, dream and deep alto. Dress yours in seven wood and acrylic finishes. Label the tines with number tabs (1 to 7 with octave dots), with letters or with do re mi, and mirror the whole kalimba if you are left-handed. 62 songs with kalimba tabs Classical themes, folk songs from around the world, holiday songs, lullabies, relaxing pieces and children's songs, each with a clear number tab sheet. Listen first and watch the tines light up as the song plays. Then Play along: the next tine glows and waits for your thumb. Slow a song down with the speed control, search the library, keep your favourites and see each song's difficulty at a glance. Your own tabs Found a kalimba tab on a website or under a video? Paste the number tab as text and it becomes a playable song in My songs, with Listen and Play along. Share any tab sheet as an image with friends or your students. 30 step-by-step lessons Learn to play the kalimba from the very first pluck: holding it, the numbers 1 to 7 and the octave dots, scales, thirds and chords, melodies and arpeggios, glissando, wah and tremolo, and rhythm. Kalimba tuner for your real kalimba (Pro) Own a real kalimba? The tuner listens through the microphone, shows how far each tine is from its note and tells you which way to tap it with the tuning hammer until it rings true. Band grooves, metronome and recording Play over 12 band grooves that follow your key, or practise with a metronome with tap tempo. Record your playing, listen back and share it as audio or as MIDI. A mixer balances the kalimba and the band. Relax mode Rain, ocean, wind, a stream or a summer night under the kalimba. Let it play by itself with gentle melodies that never repeat, and set the sleep timer to fade out when you drift off. Good for calm, focus, meditation and sleep. Made to be played anywhere Works fully offline, in 21 languages. Free and Pro Kalimba Thumb Piano is free to play, with a banner ad. A short optional video opens a locked item until you close the app. Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription: it removes the ads and unlocks everything, including all sounds, finishes, tunings, songs, lessons and grooves, the 34-key chromatic kalimba, custom tunings and the tuner.
