Mey Pro is a realistic Turkish mey for musicians who play makam. Every perde sounds at its true AEU pitch on the 53-koma grid, a dem mey holds the drone under you, and usul rhythms, a makam tuner, seyir practice and a türkü archive make it a complete daily practice instrument.

The mey belongs to the same double-reed family as the Armenian duduk and the Azerbaijani balaban. Mey Pro is made for mey, duduk and balaban players, ney and other wind players, makam (maqam) students and teachers, and composers who need a microtonal wind voice.

The instrument
• Two ways to play: the perde board, or the mey itself with seven holes and the thumb hole, half-holing for the komas
• A breath bar shapes every note; the breath lock keeps it blowing while your fingers play the holes
• Orta, ana and cura mey recorded note by note, or as a physical model; balaban and duduk voices as well
• Slur from perde to perde, slide between them (kaydırma), rock your finger for vibrato, add çarpma grace notes, trill with two fingers
• Choose your mey by its key (La, Si, Do, Re mey…), fine-tune the kıskaç, set concert A to 440, 442, 443, 432 or 415 Hz
• The real mey range (written F#4 to G5), or an extended board for composing and transcribing

Makam and ayak
• 43 makams with their AEU perdes, durak, güçlü and yeden, and the perdes that change on the way down: Rast, Uşşak, Bayâtî, Hüseynî, Hicâz, Hümâyun, Karcığar, Kürdî, Bûselik, Nihâvend, Sabâ, Segâh, Hüzzam, Sûzinâk, Hicazkâr, Mâhûr, Nikrîz, Şehnâz, Çârgâh and more
• 10 Turkish folk ayaks: Kerem, Garip, Misket, Muhalif, Bozlak and others, with their folk-practice komas
• Every makam card shows its çeşnis, its seyir and its scale as a staircase of komas
• Name the perdes your way: perde names (Dügâh, Segâh, Nevâ), Do Re Mi or C D E with koma accidentals, or komas above the durak

• More than 50 Turkish folk songs written for the mey, among them Kâtibim, Sarı Gelin and Ayrılık
• Listen to each türkü on the mey with the dem on its karar and its usul on the drum
• Then play along on the perdes or the holes: the next perde glows and waits for you, and you earn stars

Dem drone and usul
• A dem mey with circular breathing holds the durak, the güçlü, or both together (Pro); strings and voice (ison) drones too
• 21 usuls and folk rhythms, from sofyan and düyek to aksak, curcuna, devr-i hindî, yürük semâî and ağır aksak, with halay, karşılama and zeybek
• On darbuka, bendir, def, kudüm or davul, with velvele fills and the düm-tek circle

Practice
• Makam tuner: play your own mey, duduk or any instrument and read the nearest perde of the makam in komas and cents, against a dem reference tone
• Seyir: hear each makam's path on the mey with its dem, then play it with the glowing guide
• Ear training: AEU intervals, the koma between Segâh and Bûselik, çeşnis and makams
• Record with the dem and every koma kept; share as WAV, or as MIDI with the komas as pitch bends for your DAW or notation program (Pro)
